Hello, I have a Rover Mini mpi (MEMS 2J) I'm thinking of buying a SP ACR4 with a Rover V3 pod but I came across the pscan what are the advantages/disadvantages of this system compared to the ACR4? Is there a comparision list? Thanks

I don't know much about the Sykes offering so can't compare easily.
Is the Sykes a stand alone product, the Pscan needs a laptop.
You can get different modules for the Sykes but the Pscan will only do MG, Rover, Freelander and Mini.
How much is the Sykes? How easy is it to use? Will it do other circuits such as ABS, SRS and alarm? Can it give live data?
Personally I am very happy with the pscan and would recommend it to everyone.

pscan is cheaper, and doesn't suffer from the limitation of a four line screen. You can view all of the live data parameters at once with pscan. It's also a brand new product with a warranty and technical support. On the other hand the ACR4 doesn't need a laptop to go with it and so is a bit more portable. Note that you don't need expensive laptop for pscan. A £20 junk one running Linux or Windows XP will do, or you could build a something with a Raspberry Pi. I have also tested it on an old Asus EEEPC (running Debian) which is small and solid state and so can take a knock, and a 12V charger is cheap for these. ACR4 has the ability to activate outputs that pscan does not yet have. On the other hand pscan is still in development and will eventually have all of the ACR4 features and more. For example so many customers have asked us for live data logging that we are definitely going to do this at some point. We try to be as transparent as possible concerning what pscan does and does not do. For a MEMS2J Mini the features that you would get are described on these three pages:- http://www.pscan.eu/features/mems2j.htmlhttp://www.pscan.eu/features/rc5ec5.htmlhttp://www.pscan.eu/features/5as.htmlIt isn't so easy to figure out what an ACR4 can or can't do.

Thank you both for the replies and the links, it sounds very interesting also like the idea of cheaper, support and continued development. The ACR4 allows adjustment of the stepper motor can the pscan do this? Thanks

Carvell wrote: The ACR4 allows adjustment of the stepper motor can the pscan do this? Thanks As per Phil, this doesn't need a machine, search for TPS reset.
