I have only written this for Windows so far...

If you cannot get your interface to work, please download this software
http://www.pscan.eu/download/win32/pscantest03.exe
plug your interface into your laptop, and run it, then click on start.

Then please copy the text that it produces and paste it into a reply to this thread.

I am monitoring this thread so I should get an email straight away and can look to see what the problem is.

Hi, Just got my PSCAN unit and get the following message.
Starting
1 interfaces found
AH02ZVJD
status=60A0
interface not powered
Finished

This is the first time install and i simply have the unit connected to my pc and the pc connected to the internet. Should i be connected to the car diagnostic port as well?

Most of the pscan.eu interface is powered by the car, not the PC.
In fact only one chip in the interface is powered by the PC.
The message you are seeing is 100% consistent with the fact that it isn't plugged into the car.
It also means that the FTDI driver has correctly installed which is good news.

When you plug the interface into your car you will see a green flashing light on the interface. This means that it has powered up correctly and you can use it.

Thx for prompt reply. Just connected it to my MGF VVC and all seems fine. Now to start playing around with it on the good car and then find out why my sons's VVC has high emissions.

If the test software says this "could not access libftd2xx" then it means that the FTDI driver is not installed.
The solution is to download this:-
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM%20v2.12.06%20WHQL%20Certified.exe
and run it

This is what comes up for me
"Starting
Windows version:1DB10106=Windows 7 or Server 2008R2
Cannot load D2XX library
Download driver from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM ... tified.exe
Finished"

When I try and download the driver a pop up comes up saying "the requested operation requires elevation"

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Because that exe file is a driver installer it requires administrative privileges to run.
Download the file and then locate it on your harddrive.
Right click on the file and select "Run as administrator".

Is your interface connected with a USB cable to the Pc? You might have to plug it in and then wait for 20 seconds or so before clicking on Start.

Most of the electronics are powered by the car. You need to plug into the car and see a flashing green light before you can go any further.

are you running pscan diagnostic software and the test software at the same time?
If you are running two software at the same time they will fight each other
is the green light flashing on the interface?

Please can you verify that the USB port on the PC is working for other devices (such as a memory stick).

Please can you download this installer

for Windows 7,8,10
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM%20v2.12.06%20WHQL%20Certified.exe

for XP and Vista
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM%20v2.10.00%20WHQL%20Certified.exe

and re-install it.

To install it please right click on the file and select "Run as administrator"
Then reboot your PC and try again.

Some more things to try please.

Open your device manager and then expand "universal serial bus controllers"
it should look like this

Image

When you plug in the pscan.eu interface the "USB Serial Converter" should appear, and when you unplug it it should disappear.

Next.

Right click on USB Serial Converter and select
Properties

In the new windows select the Driver Tab end then Driver Details.

It should look like this

Image

This is the information that you should be able to see for each file (mine is 64 bit)

c:\Windows\system32\drivers\ftdibus.sys
Provider FTDI Ltd
File version 2.12.06.3

c:\Windows\system32\ftbusui.dll
Provider FTDI Ltd
File version 1.3.0.1

c:\Windows\system32\ftd2xx.dll
Provider FTDI Ltd
File version 3.02.10

c:\Windows\system32\FTLang.dll
Provider FTDI Ltd
File version 1.5.2.1

c:\Windows\syswow64\ftd2xx.dll
Provider FTDI Ltd
File version 3.02.10

if you see an arrow in the device manager like this

Image

This means that the device is disabled.

To fix this you must right click and select "Enable"

This is what you should see running Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10
Code:
Starting
Windows version:1DB10106=Windows 7 or Server 2008R2
D2XX version:00030210
1 interfaces found
A602FNGU
  status=000060A0
  interface not powered
  driver=00021206
Finished

if your D2XX version is less than 00030210 then this will possibly cause a problem.

The default Windows 10 driver (if you just plug in without installing the driver that we recommend) appears to be 00030207 at the moment.

Your FTDI driver is not installed.

1. Download this file http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM21214_Setup.exe
2. Open file explorer and find the file.
3. Right click on the file and select "Run as administrator" like this:-
Image
4. Follow the instructions that the installer give you.

there is something funny going on at the moment, I wonder if Microsoft have pushed an update to Windows 10 which is causing this.
For the time being it seems to work if you disconnect from the internet before running the software

My other laptop (which the battery was flat at the time) running Windows 10 but hasn't been turned on for a while worked fine once I'd charged the battery and used that.

Interestingly when I tried to run the software to begin with (on laptop which it won't work on) the software kept saying no internet connection and wouldn't do anything until I tethered my phone to it...then it still wouldn't work :(

okay on my Windows 10 laptop I am now seeing a process called "antimalware service executable" which maxes out the CPU for a few seconds each time that pscanloader is run.
This is something new and is probably what is causing the problem.

this is easily fixed

start menu -> settings -> update and security -> Windows Defender

Exclusions -> add an exclusion

+ Exclude a folder

Select the folder in which you have put pscanloader.exe and click "Exclude this folder"
