Note that from year 2000 the immobiliser function was moved from the 27VT to a separate immobiliser ECU (EWS or SAWDOC) which communicates with a chip in the key via a coil in the ignition barrel.
From year 2000 fobs can be coded into the 27VT and they will unlock the doors but this is not enough to un-immobilise the engine.
